Film Name:屋顶足球 / Football on ther Roof

《Football on ther Roof》 is a football-based film about an alcoholic fruit vendor (Coach Shi Kai) who takes a group of girls (who later form a women’s football team) on an extraordinary football journey in a small village deep in the mountains of Yunnan. The girls’ football team from the rooftop of a mountain quietly rises up in the storm, overcoming difficulties and emotional trials on their way to pursuing their dreams, and eventually growing up against the wind.

In the film, Coach Shi Kai’s character is initially a muddled figure, but in his interactions with the children, his heart and dreams for football are rekindled. The children’s perseverance and dreams also inspire the coach and make him find his way back. The film shows how the sport of football connects people from different backgrounds in the pursuit of one dream. At the same time, the film also shows the pursuit and persistence of young people in their dreams and the importance of sportsmanship.

The film features its unique perspective and true story background. Director Flying Fish worked with schools during the roadshow to explore the theme of football and dreams in depth, making the film even more touching. Most of the actors in the film are vegetarians, including the character Aiyumi  who came out of a true story and whose story is not only embodied in the film, but also continues to move upward in real life, showing the profound impact of football on her.

Overall, 《Football on ther Roof》 is a creative and passionate film that is worth watching. It is not only a film, but also represents a new force in domestic cinema and an exploration of the genre.
