《Men Behind the Sun 3: A Narrow Escape》 is a thriller film directed by Ho and starring Zhu Gang. Set against the backdrop of the historically famous Unit 731, the film tells the story of a group of members who escape on a train after being infected with deadly bacteria while trying to destroy secret experiments at the end of the war.
Beginning at the sound of a whistle, the members of Unit 731 gather in a square as the staff officer announces an emergency retreat. Before leaving, in order to destroy all secrets and traces of Unit 731, Ito and the others carry out the task of destroying the bacterial hotbed in the laboratory. However, during the operation, Ito accidentally cuts his hand, causing it to become infected.
Ito and the other members are taken on the only escape train. Inside the train, Jiyuyama supports the sickly Ito and the female medical officer, who are getting worse and worse. Meanwhile, germs continue to spread within the train, causing a panic. The train is no longer an ordinary means of transport, but a death train.
The whole film brings the audience into a world full of horror and despair through the tense and exciting plot and realistic scene effects. Director Ho’s unique way of showing the evil experiments of Unit 731 and its consequences puts the audience in the midst of this horrific historical event.
