《Give Me A Ride》 is a comedy crime western film filled with elements of absurdity and humour. Set in a story that takes place on a highway in western Sichuan, this film follows the absurd experiences of an older brother, Yu Liangsheng, who gets involved in various conspiracies to find his younger sister, Yu Xiao.

The story begins with Yu Liangsheng, an unemployed nerd, being forced by his mother to go to western Sichuan to look for his sister, who is travelling to the Tibetan region to teach. During his search, he discovers that his sister seems to have been kidnapped by human traffickers, but as the plot develops, things are far more complicated than he imagined. He meets Gu Xiaoman on the journey and together they fall into a bigger conspiracy.

A major climax of the film is when Yu Liangsheng and Gu Xiaoman track down the traffickers’ hideout and accidentally discover that Yu Xiao has not been kidnapped, but has volunteered to join a mysterious organisation that engages in illegal activities with his lover and accomplice Li Guoqiang. Yu Liangsheng and Gu Xiaoman are subsequently discovered by members of the organisation and are thrown into crisis.

Another climax occurs when the two escape with the help of Yang Haoyu, a self-proclaimed policeman, only to be pursued by Yu Yang, a self-proclaimed journalist. It is eventually revealed that Yang Haoyu and Yu Yang are in fact core members of the organisation, who use Yu Liangsheng and Gu Xiaoman as bait in an attempt to lure out the head of the organisation for greater gain.

With its complex plot, rich cast of characters and humorous and absurd narrative, 《Give Me A Ride》 offers a tense and exciting viewing experience. The film is creative and entertaining with not only fun crime elements, but also deeply rooted themes of family and friendship.

《Give Me A Ride》 presents a thrilling chase scene in the final stages of the film, in which Yu Liangsheng and Gu Xiaoman successfully escape from all their pursuers and reveal the true identity of the organisation’s leader. In this tense climax, they are shocked to discover that the ringleader turns out to be Yu Liangsheng’s father, a gangster who has been absconding for years and has been secretly manipulating the entire criminal organisation. Yu Xiao and Li Guoqiang are also his henchmen. This shocking truth plunges Yu Liangsheng and Gu Xiaoman into deep confusion and conflict.

As a film that combines elements of comedy, crime and western, 《Give Me A Ride》 presents a complex world full of intrigue and deception. The film is full of absurdity and black humour, allowing the audience to experience a deep emotional impact while laughing. The cast is outstanding, with the combination of Baobao and Li Meng delivering both comedic and heartfelt performances, showcasing their growth and transformation on the journey.

Directors Fan Chao and Chen Yizi use intense pacing and brilliant camera language to create an atmosphere that is both thrilling and fun to watch. The screenplay is cleverly constructed to surprise and shock the audience at every turning point through reversals and revelations, while maintaining the suspense and anticipation of the story’s conclusion.

Overall, 《Give Me A Ride》 is an entertaining and insightful film that not only relaxes and entertains viewers, but also provokes deep thoughts about life and society, making it a worthwhile watch.
