They Came To Rob Hong Kong 1989 Film Review: Two Stunning Beauties Xiao Hao and Yao Yang

Film Name: 八宝奇兵 / They Came To Rob Hong Kong

Xiao Hao came for the money, only to find this place packed with big names—Zhang Yao Yang, Hui Ying Hong, Tsang Chi Wai, Sandra Ng, Qiu Shu Zhen, Lam Kit Ying. The plot is utterly illogical and a complete mess.

Zhang Yao Yang looked incredibly sexy at the start. He’s even better without clothes—no wonder so many lust after him. No wonder the director had Old Zhang open the show.

Sister Hong’s fight scenes are intense. Back then, female action stars truly earned their stripes through sheer grit.

Who’d have guessed Xiao Hao’s entrance would be dancing on stage? And he’s actually pretty good at it! Later, the dancing turns into a brawl, landing both Xiao Hao and Yao Yang in the police station. Though billed as a lead, his screen time is less than Sandra Ng’s.

Xiao Hao still radiates that adorable, innocent charm. For some reason, he always carries this pure, youthful aura. His subtle expressions are incredibly vivid, yet when he gets serious during fight scenes, he instantly transforms into a mature, seasoned fighter—like a completely different person.

Three standout moments in the entire film:

Xiao Hao’s street dance sequence during his entrance.
Xiao Hao ripping off his suit jacket while fighting the muscle-bound thug.
Xiao Hao and Hui Yinghong brutally beating up the big boss in the finale.

PS: The film even took a dig at Xiao Hao’s thick calves. Hui Yinghong could easily play his sister. Why hasn’t Xiao Hao starred in a romance with Chiu Shu-ching? What a waste. They barely interacted here—such a squandered opportunity.
