Film Name: 危险情人 / The Shootout / 危險情人

Crime, Police, Romance, Action, Gunfight Film. A cash-in-transit robbery sparks a police investigation, deploying elite forces to outwit and outmaneuver ruthless criminals. Ultimately, justice prevails as the criminals are defeated and the hero wins the girl.
During an armored car robbery, the four robbers split into two pairs to flee. One pair encounters a police pursuit and fires weapons, causing a police car to explode and allowing their escape. The other pair crosses paths with plainclothes officer Guo. One robber collides with a steel structure being transported, falls, and is injured, leading Guo to apprehend him and bring him to the station. Upon learning of the arrest, the gang’s leader, Old Xu, pursued them to the station and shot the captured robber dead. Police assembled an elite task force for the investigation, selecting Old Guo and a female officer—chosen for their reliability—to join the team. The two elite officers were archrivals, still at odds over a previous case, yet they were also close brothers—just going through a rough patch. Their investigation revealed that only one cash courier had survived the heist, and the robbers possessed precise knowledge of the armored truck’s route and schedule, making this courier highly suspicious. They tailed the cash courier and discovered he had connections with a high-ranking bank executive. Wiretaps confirmed their suspicions. Continuing surveillance, they observed the pair meeting with several robbers. However, when negotiations over the ransom fell through, the robbers turned on the executive and killed him. The cash courier was rescued by the police. Police pressured the courier to reveal the robbers’ whereabouts. He led them to a bar where Guo spotted the girl he’d fallen for at the supermarket, now singing on stage. He nearly forgot his mission, utterly captivated by her. The courier distracted the officers with lies, luring them away one by one before attempting to flee—only to be killed by the robbery ringleader. Meanwhile, Guo struck up a conversation with the girl of his dreams and accompanied her home, where he joined her for coffee. Just as he left, the gang leader arrived. It turned out the girl was under his patronage, but she was growing increasingly fed up with his control and wanted to escape. When he refused and beat her, she fled. Lao Guo rushed back to report his discovery. The police team then arrived at his girlfriend’s residence. Without a search warrant, they had to sneak inside. Just then, the girl returned and encountered Lao Guo and Liang Jiaren. She quickly recognized Lao Guo’s true identity. However, the robbers also arrived, clashing with the police. Liang Jiaren, Liu Qingyun, Old Guo, and Yuan Jieying were all injured. One robber died, while the leader and another escaped. While everyone was in the hospital, the robber leader arrived, intending to kidnap Yuan Jieying. He took a female police officer hostage and clashed with the police. After a fierce battle, the leader and another robber escaped. The final scene was peculiar: Lao Guo brought Yuan Jieying to a shooting range with Liu Qingyun for practice. This was essentially setting up a battlefield for a showdown, but why bring Yuan Jieying? It was obvious the robbers would target them, and going to such a remote location was practically asking for trouble. Why not bring more people for protection? Isn’t that just asking for trouble? Then the female officer gets taken hostage again, but she says something that makes Liu Qingyun realize something about the location. I didn’t get that reference. And what was Chengcheng’s move at the end? Hanging Lao Xu like that—both their necks are still being choked, so they’re still going to die, right? Makes no sense. The part where he ends up deaf is pretty funny though.
The comedic pairing of Liu Qingyun and Liang Jiaren as bickering rivals is hilarious. Their constant banter creates pure comedy—they’re the absolute comedic anchors. That sharp-tongued wit is unmatched. Chengcheng looks so young; he’s perfect for playing this lovesick fool. His utterly devoted expression is both comical and utterly convincing. And Lao Guo’s songs? Truly beautiful. Though he rolls his R’s a bit, the flavor is spot-on. Yuen Kit-ying is genuinely stunning—one of Hong Kong cinema’s unforgettable beauties from that era. Xu’s role was tailor-made for him: that mix of spoiled arrogance, cold ruthlessness, and brutal efficiency suits him perfectly. Sister Pomegranate’s robber was also great—finally not defined by her chest! Though still portrayed as a tomboy, she was so misunderstood!
