Film Name: 赌侠大战拉斯维加斯 / The Conmen in Vegas / 賭俠大戰拉斯維加斯

The film’s greatest achievement lies in discovering Lin Xilei, who stands as the final goddess-level starlet of Wong Jing’s era. This is partly because Wong Jing’s work quality took a nosedive after the turn of the century (appealing to an increasingly niche audience), and partly due to his aesthetic judgment going off the rails (with increasingly obvious cosmetic surgery marks)! As a sequel to God of Gamblers 1999, this installment adopts a more lighthearted and entertaining style. Cheung Kar-wing’s anthem “Swear to Climb the Mountain of Knives” bridges the gap from 1999 to The White Storm, while Alan Tam retains his golden comedic supporting role. Wan Chi-leung lets loose with no holds barred (stealing scenes left and right), Yu Fang shines brilliantly in perilous moments, Lin Hsi-lei radiates sensual allure, and Andy Lau remains quintessentially Andy Lau (whether sporting white or red hair, he’s off the charts handsome)… The most memorable moment undoubtedly belongs to Lin Xilei’s seduction of Andy Lau. The unbuttoned white shirt, the bewitching gaze, the dreamlike score—it all radiates pure testosterone. Every guy in the audience probably wished he was that button she gently bit off. With her dewy, fresh-faced beauty, Lin Xilei delivered a classic sensual scene destined for cinematic history!
