Film Name: 夏日么么茶 / Summer Holiday / 夏日的麼麼茶

Summer Love is my favorite romantic film. Some say 80% of its success comes from its stunning scenery—beautiful Hawaii, the azure ocean… But romance never exists in isolation. Scenery, delicious food, even a perfectly timed moment—all can spark love’s sudden arrival. Just as people often say, falling for someone might be because of a white shirt, a fleeting glimpse out the window, or simply meeting on a good day…

The female lead, Summer, is sharp and assertive. She shows no sadness after being dumped, refuses any consolation after being wrongfully fired, and doesn’t know how to act vulnerable as a woman. In the end, she’s betrayed by her most trusted friend… Such a character is flawed and unlikable, yet she reflects a small part of our reality: someone who maintains her composure and dignity in public, refusing to show any vulnerability, needing no pity, and not being the type to please everyone. She may not have many friends, but those she has are 100% genuine. Though occasionally betrayed, she commits wholeheartedly to both love and friendship once she commits.

Momo Cha is the gentlest male lead I’ve ever seen. Warm and kind, he softly soothes the female lead’s stubborn heart. Only he sees the vulnerability beneath her tough exterior, carefully nurturing her with cautious, earnest devotion. When she’s bullied, he fights for her without hesitation;

When he hears her singing at an open-air KTV, reminiscing about a past relationship, he secretly learns the songs she sang and performs them for her to heal her heart;

During misunderstandings, though reluctant, he chooses to let go and not cling when she asks him to preserve her dignity; he’s always the first to look at her. While he pretends to be annoyed by her affected coquetry, he actually adores her genuine, unpretentious self… ….

This might be the kind of love I yearn for—someone who always holds you in the palm of their hand. Sometimes you don’t even feel like the protagonist yourself, but there’s someone who keeps you pinned at the top of their life. No matter what they hear or do, their first thought is always about you. They see right through all your bravado and vulnerability, protecting you from harm… This kind of male lead is just too gentle.

The film’s atmosphere is lighthearted, warm, and utterly charming. Add in Hawaii’s mesmerizing ocean views and the playful songs from the three guys in the male lead group, and I’ve been in love with this movie for so long!!

Here’s the final lyric dedication, haha. May everyone find such adorable love~ I want you by my side, watching sea turtles swim in the water Slowly crawling onto the beach, counting each wave as it breaks Don’t be afraid, you won’t be lonely I’ll always be right beside you, keeping you happy day after day. We’ll grow up slowly— I don’t care if you understand what I’m singing. I know one day, you’ll fall for me, because I think I’m pretty great. Time rushes by, never looking back. The beauty turns into an old woman. Oh my, by that time, I’ll be an old man too… La… Let’s hold hands together, La… Counting each wave as it rolls in.
