Film Name: 小飞侠 / Teenage Master / 小飛俠

When I was a kid, we had the DVD of this movie at home. I watched it over and over again and loved it dearly. I pulled it out again tonight and watched it once more—still laughing from start to finish.
It’s packed with classic lines and plenty of laughs. No matter how clichéd they may seem, mainland comedies today rarely give me that carefree, hearty laugh anymore.
When Wu Mengda gets caught by the cops in the bathroom, he begs: “I’m begging you, show some compassion! Just treat me like a fart and let me go. You’ll feel better, it won’t affect society, and this situation is perfect for it…”
Xie Miao’s look in the film is still pretty cool. He’s a huge eater, but he’s so scared of dogs that even eating a “hot dog” makes him pass out. Like his roles in Days in Shaolin and My Father is a Hero, he leaves a strong impression—just through comedy this time. We haven’t seen films like this since. He’s done a few Shaolin-themed kung fu movies lately—could he really have become a monk?
Luo Huijuan looks stunning in her costume in the film. She loves polishing things.
