Film Name: 相见好 / Happy Together / 相見好

Lately, I’ve been under so much pressure that I couldn’t even decide what movie to watch. In the end, I turned to the one thing I could always rely on: Hong Kong cinema. This 1989 classic proved just that.
Hong Kong films are like the little sister Michelle Chow plays in this movie—laughing and joking when you’re happy, comforting you when you’re sad. As long as you’re not alone, there seems to be no such thing as absolute sorrow. It’s truly wonderful to have someone by your side.
This film brings together three goddesses: Zhou Huimin, Qiu Shuzhen, and Zhong Chuhong. Zhou Huimin is adorable, Qiu Shuzhen is beautiful, and Zhong Chuhong is sexy. My favorite part is the dynamic between Brother B and Zhou Huimin. Growing up together through all the bickering and fun, their relationship—more than friends but not quite lovers—is the best kind of bond. Too much respect lacks chemistry, while too much intimacy leads to friction, like what happened after Auntie Hong and Brother B moved in together.
Brother B and Sister Head have a great dynamic.
They know each other’s likes, temperaments, and personalities. They share good news with each other, confide in each other when things go wrong, and tease each other daily. On the surface, they seem like just friends, but unknowingly, they’ve become crucial people in each other’s lives.
In 1989, Zhou Huimin was 22—nearly the same age as her character in the film, who constantly puffs out her cheeks declaring, “I’m not a kid anymore! I’m 21!” At this stage of her career, Zhou Huimin had just debuted, radiating a fresh, captivating beauty as adorable as a little sister.
Ah B was a vital figure in Hong Kong cinema. Tall and handsome, he could play both dashing and comedic roles. His humorous characters always carried traces of the “dashing guy” persona—seemingly naive yet subtly sharp. His songs were captivating, and his vocal skills were top-notch.
As Ah B’s voice filled the air, the end credits rolled. But the beauty of that era has never faded.
