The film tells the story of three disciples from the Wulong Monastery battling wit and courage against the Heavenly Demon.
The chubby Hao Shaowen naturally brings the laughs, Shi Xiaolong is both agile and handsome, and Uncle Da’s comedic skills speak for themselves. Watching the entire movie, nearly every line of dialogue and every shot comes with a built-in humor filter—it’s hard not to laugh.
For instance, Wu Mengda borrows the abbot’s dentures to shave his beard and head, Hao Shaowen wipes out a swarm of flies with a stinky fart during dinner, and Shi Xiaolong’s “Drunken Milk Fist” packs maximum punch—making him both incredibly cool and adorably charming.
The ending, of course, is a grand reunion. The trio joins forces to defeat the mastermind and successfully rescues their master.
This irreverent master-disciple trio constantly finds themselves in misfortune, yet none of them ever truly gives up. Even the smallest success sends them collectively soaring with joy. To borrow a popular phrase, for these three, life truly is “worth every moment”!
