The film extensively utilizes real locations in Chongqing, depicting historical sites like Nantianmen, docks, and weapons factories. Its streets, alleys, and distinctive landscapes authentically capture the atmosphere of the 1930s. By connecting numerous red tourism landmarks, it stands out among domestic films of its genre. During my visit to Jiulongpo District in Chongqing, I even saw many photos of the former munitions factory.
Overall, this is a commendable contemporary drama. Though rooted in revolutionary themes, its foreign perspective offers fresh insight and compelling storytelling. Simultaneously, it serves as a cultural tourism showcase—essentially a documentary capturing 1930s Chongqing’s customs and atmosphere.
