Film Name: 波鲁鲁冰雪大冒险 / Pororo’s Racing Adventure

In Pororo’s world, adults were never meant to exist. The creator of Pororo sought to build a pure children’s realm—for only such a world could eliminate parental lectures, block out the clamor of the adult world, and bridge hearts through equality among all beings.

From this perspective, “Pororo’s Racing Adventure” contradicts the original spirit of the Pororo narrative. It is filled with adults, the clamor and chaos of the grown-up world, inequality between people, mutual attacks, competition for gain, and even deceit. The white tiger representing justice, the red bear embodying evil, the commentator symbolizing prejudice, the mailman personifying vanity… In truth, from the moment the Pororos boarded their adorable little plane and flew into that fireworks-filled night sky, they had already crossed into another world. Though the dazzling fireworks appeared beautiful to them, their true essence lay beneath—an explosion of vanity and greed, a trap of superficiality and danger.

Fortunately, the film tells the story of children saving the adult world. In this adult realm, the Porurus not only preserve their authentic selves but also impart kindness, sincerity, courage, and compassion to the grown-ups. This is why the White Tiger finds spiritual solace in them, why the mailman abandons vanity, why the commentator—who was on the verge of giving up hope—along with all the spectators and even the entire movie audience, share a collective yearning. And this is precisely why the Red Bear ultimately fails. Red Bear was not defeated by White Tiger, the only one who could match his strength, but by Poruru, who saved him in his hour of need with pure kindness.

So, this is a journey through time. Borulu travels from the innocent world of childhood into the complex world of adults. It remains unchanged by this world, yet it transforms it. The so-called “Snow Adventure” reveals that the true peril lies not in the snow itself, but in the adult world. This is the spirit conveyed by the film—a spirit that subtly influences the children watching it, gifting them dreams and strength. It does not undermine the purity of the child’s world within the “Boruru” narrative; rather, it uses the journey through the adult world to underscore the profound significance of the child’s realm.

The lollipop stands out as the most significant prop in the film. It is the gift Pororo gives to the mailman in his own world, an unintentional seed of sincerity that ultimately sprouts in the adult realm. How could a lollipop possibly serve as fuel? This defies the laws of physics. Yet it perfectly aligns with the film’s theme, for lollipops are cherished by children and symbolize their pure emotions. Just as the little dinosaur and Poruru began to blame each other when the second lollipop broke, when the mailman delivered the last one, they reconciled. They and the mailman gained mutual trust, Then they placed the lollipops into the engine, and the race car soared skyward as if powered by boundless energy. So what truly propelled the car—the lollipops, or the genuine friendship between the children?

Unlike other racing films, “Pororo’s Racing Adventure” doesn’t dwell on detailed driving techniques. How to overtake on curves, how to drift—these seem secondary to the story’s focus. Pororo ultimately triumphs over his rivals thanks to a small trick they’d picked up while playing in the snow—not because he mastered any extraordinary racing technique. As a racing film, it simplifies many aspects of the sport: cars mysteriously get knocked out of the race, the rivalry between White Tiger and Red Bear seems to boil down to mere collisions, and Pororo’s speed never realistically catches up to the lead racers. Yet, Pororo’s driving style remains authentically true to himself—even as he dreams of becoming a world champion—a quality that perfectly aligns with the film’s theme.
