《Body Weapon》 is a 1999 Hong Kong movie starring Vivienne Cheung, Francis Chiu, Au Kam Tong and Tsui Kam Kong. The movie tells the story of a woman who rises up to take revenge after her family is ruined by three men. The heroine, Cheung Wai Yee, is a member of the police force and is popular with many men, including Au Kam Tong and Chiu Man Cheuk, between whom she hesitates. Tsui Kam Kong, the leader of the police force, chooses Chiu Man Cheuk for a martial arts competition and urges him to step up his training.
At the climax of the movie, during Cheung Wai Yee’s wedding, she is attacked by three thugs and her husband Au Kam Tong is brutally murdered. The tragedy changed her life forever and Cheung Wai Yee decides to take revenge in her own way.
She seeks help, learns fighting skills and finally decides to seek revenge on her three enemies. The movie captivated the audience with its unique plot and emotional depth, and even though its genre is categorized as action/erotica, it also touches on the theme of revenge, showing the heroine’s transformation from victim to avenger.
Audience reviews of the film were polarized. Some saw it as a movie full of emotional depth and tension, while others saw it as a horror movie under the banner of a triple feature, which, despite the absence of ghosts or zombies, was still frightening.
